The other day we were visiting Grandma Bates and we were looking at old photos and we came across a picture of Kyle when he was a baby. Rayne is definitely a product of his father! (Like we had any doubts :)

Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas tree.....and SMORES
Well my friends the time has come where winter has come, we got hit hard with winter a couple of weeks ago and kyle and i just couldn't resist and set up our christmas tree and treated ourselves to some smore's...mmmmmmmmmmm! Even though the snow all melted this past week, I love the feel of having a tree set up, nothing beats sitting on your couch with the tree lit, candles flickering, and curled up with a hot cup of hot chocolate.
We are looking forward to next year so that we can involve Rayne and start family traditions.

4 MONTHS OLD
Where does the time go my little bean is 4 months old today! I love this child more then I can express.
Things I notice:
*He is still smiling away
*He loves sitting contently with Grandpa Kydd and Uncle David
*He's teething and he loves chewing on his fists and won't use any teething ring i buy
*He is almost rolling over, any day now
*Still won't take to his crib, but we will get it one of these days
*He will only use his soother to fall asleep and you know he is out cold when he pushes it out
*His teeth bother him a little at night so his sleeping time has decreased a little but its still anywhere to 5-6 hrs straight a night
*Loves cuddling with mama
*He's not throwing up anymore and his appetite has increased . I can lay him on his back without any problem
*He loves talking gibberish and telling us stories
We go for 4 month shots next week!

HALLOWEEN
Halloween fastly approached this year and we just had to dress Rayne up. Next year the three of us will dress up together but for this year we dressed him. Can you guess what he is?
MONOPOLY MAN!!!!
MONOPOLY MAN!!!!
3 MONTHS
Can you believe how fast time is going. My little guy is just over 3 months old. He's not quite little any more. Approx 13 lbs and 23 1/2 inches long. His test from the barium swallow came back normal and he was doing great for a while and then projectile puking took over. Just came from the doctor where he thinks Rayne has an allergy to Milk protein, so we are now trying out the soy based formula. So far so good! We had updated pics taken from our very talented friend Nicole again. Take a look!
I know my opinion is bias, but isn't he just ADORABLE!!!!!!!
Things I have noticed at this stage:
*He is smiling constantly, we have even gotten some small giggles out of him
*He's has discovered his tongue and is constantly sticking it out
*When he is just content he gives a little sigh/cooing - cutest thing in the world
*He knows who I am, the minute I enter the room his big eyes light up and huge smile takes over
*He loves to cuddle
*He's discovered his fist and is sometimes more comfort then his soother
*We know he is tired because the outside of his eyes get red and puffy
*He's sleeping 6-7 hrs at night
*He's still a mover
*His nickname is officially 'bean' (because he is constantly moving, like a mexican jumping bean).

GROWING! GROWING!
I can't believe how fast time flies. In a couple of days it will be 8 weeks since we brought our little bundle of joy home. We have had many ups and downs trying to adjust to parenthood. Trying to figure out what formula he should be on, is he suffering from acid reflux, what helps him get to sleep etc. Our little guy even spent a weekend in the hospital. He was so stuffed up and kept choking on mucus. The doctor in the ER wanted to monitor him just in case he had an infection. Luckily everything came back normal and he was discharged with just a small cold. Next he went through a Barium Swallow test for the acid reflux, we are still waiting on the results. I would love to say its been all wonderful since he's been born, but as i said before, we are adjusting to parenthood. I have had many small breakdowns feeling like a failure, but rest assured it has been well worth it and have looked forward to seeing him grow everyday. He is already just over 11 lbs way bigger then the 7 lbs we brought him home at. He has gained a couple of nicknames already....'Little Peanut', 'Little man', 'Bean'. I have no idea how and why we started calling him those but they sort of fit and will probably stick. I try to send Kyle a photo of Rayne every day so he doesn't miss the little opportunities of him growing that I see everyday.
Things I Love about my 'Little Peanut' at this stage:
-He smiles at me and its not gas. Many times I will look at him and smile and he ponders it and smiles back.
-When he is in a deep sleep and a noise is made or i brush his skin he jolts his whole body and throws his hands up like he's being held up.
-The cooing sounds
-He snores
-He sleeps the best when he's cuddled in my arms or laying on my chest.
-When hes hungry he sticks his tongue out until a bottle is in his mouth. He looks like a little frog.
-He's a mover, he never stops. When i have him on his back his legs and arms just keeping going. I put him down for a nap and he almost moved off the couch. CRAZY!

Baby's First Pictures
Our lovely and talented friend Nicole Yawney did our first family and baby photo shoot the other night. I'm so impressed with Nicole's work and love all the pictures (I can't believe this is just a hobby for her). I'm just in love with our "little man."

Baby's first Bath
This just makes me smile each time, Rayne didn't particularly love his bath but he didn't hate it. We had to take a picture.
OH BABY!
Well, he just couldn't wait. July 28th, 2011 at 11:02am Rayne Malcolm Sean Bates made his debut. My water broke Tuesday July 26th, Kyle and I made our way to the hospital. But because I wasn't having contraction they sent me home for the night and was put on a list to be induced. Nothing really progressed over the night and Wednesday came with still no phone call to come in. I was really ready to have this baby. Finally at 2pm on Wednesday we received the call to come in, that they were ready for us. At 4:45pm they started me on the Oxytocin drip to start labour. Contractions didn't start coming until about 6pm that night. It started out okay until they increased the meds slowly every hour. I held in till about 2am but when back labour started, oh man oh man, one word EPIDURAL!!!!!. When that kicked in I was in heaven :). The nurses said the contractions where constant 2mins apart the whole night, so to my surprise when 8am rolled around and the doctor said I was only 3 cm dilated. WHAT!!!! They upped the dose of the medication for another hour and then called for an emergency c-section, which at that point i was all too happy to have. The feeling of Joy and Happiness that overcame me when the doctor held him over the little curtain can not be described. I waited 9 months to discover who was growing in me and i could not be more happy with the results.
This picutre i captured just added to the joy. Kyle is just in love with this "little man" as he calls him.

BIG BABY!!!!!
Went for my 36 week ultrasound yesterday. Found out that baby is measuring at 38 weeks and roughly 7lbs already. I was really hoping for a small baby my first time around but looks like i might have inherited the big baby gene from my mom. The doctor is sending me for another ultrasound in 2 weeks to keep an eye on the baby's measurements, we may be delivering early if baby gets too big. I'm in love with my baby already, the ultrasound technician got some really good shots of him, i know its stupid but i can see kyle in the nose and little chin. I'm getting more and more excited to meet the little guy.

"10 Things I hate about you"
This pregnancy has not been an easy one, i'm going to be honest, the first 7 months was pure hell. I have an official list of foods that should stay in your body AND not come back up!!!!! not even crackers or toast could help some days and I need to catch up on a lot of sleep still. If anything it was a start to a great diet losing 2 sizes which saved a lot of money when it came to maternity clothes, all i had to do was buy maternity jeans. I still fit the rest of my clothes. I often got questioned if I was excited, I never had an answer because all your life as a girl you dream to be married and have children you adore and i just couldn't believe such a precious gift that is given could be such torment in ones life and thats just in the womb :). Well i am now 33 weeks and 5 days and although I still have my rough days I am getting excited as the count down has now begun. Although the only connection I feel right now to my precious little boy is the constant kicking of my stomach and that he is already dictating when i sleep, what side I sleep on and when I go to the bathroom I cannot wait to hold my little guy and feel the love between mother and child. To my future son, it has been a love/hate relationship from the beginning that will only develop into way more love then I think you can handle. I can't wait to give you the attention, love and care you deserve. The following is for you, its a quote from my favorite movie just with a few changes:
and the way you are always on my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me so sick,
it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you’re always right,
I hate it when you sigh.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you’re not moving around,
and the fact that sometimes there's a lull.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you,
not even close…
not even a little bit…
not even at all.
Love always,
Your future Momma!
I hate the way you move in me,
and the way you leave me scared.
I hate the way you give me heart burn,
I hate it when you turn.
I hate that i can't sleep at night
and the way you leave me scared.
I hate the way you give me heart burn,
I hate it when you turn.
I hate that i can't sleep at night
and the way you are always on my mind.

Wisdom Teeth Tuesday
Kyle had to have his wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday. He opted for the dentist to take them out with freezing and laughing gas. What a brave brave man. He took Wednesday off work and now he has to go in tonight. I feel so bad for him, i went through the same thing years ago but opted for the orthodontist and was put to sleep so my healing went a lot faster. I had to post this picture of his swollen face, he looks so sad. He hasn't been able to eat a whole lot :(

ITS A BOY!
Went for my 20 week ultrasound today and we found out that we are expecting a boy. We are so excited! Kyle is over the moon about it, he can't wait for him to be old enough to take him out on a long board. The ultrasound technician took a long time, baby was folded right in half and wasn't cooperating and being stubborn (already taking on dads qualities, :) ) but we finally got a couple of shots in. Will post pictures when scanner will work.

Starting new
So i have seen a dozen blogs out there, and i started thinking maybe its time to leave a piece of me out there too. I'm really bad at journaling and since i'm on the computer a lot in the day why not try. Kyle and i have been married for 16 months now and are expecting our first child August 10, 2011. This will be the story of us and life as we know it.
